HPD MEMBRANE FITTING

  1. Drain the instrument of oil. When blowing starts there will be oil and oil mist everywhere otherwise.
  2. Fit the Blow On Adaptor to the end of the membrane using two Multiclips.
  3. Set gas bottle to about 35 psi – 2.5 Bars.
  4. Ensure the Socket Protector is fitted to the Mk IV connector on the bottom of the instrument.
  5. Use a third Multiclip or a piece of string or a Tyrap to hold the strain arm followers in. As the membrane slides on it will first hold the arms in itself and then slide this retaining device up the instrument. Trying to hold the arms in by hand is a serious mistake.
  6. Put the membrane on the instrument, turn on the gas and push the membrane as far as it will go. This should be well beyond the strain arms and may be nearly all the way. Note that two people are required to overcome resistance to the gas pressure.
  7. Once the membrane is nearly on disconnect the Blow On Adaptor.
  8. Now pump oil through the instrument. It will leak out both ends of the membrane but provide a cushion on which the membrane can be slid the last short distance. Gas pressure can be used to do this too.
